Children's Literature Hawaii - Used Book Sale

Looking for a great deal on some children’s and young adult titles? Then you might want to visit UH today and tomorrow for the Children’s Literature Hawaii Used Book Sale! Here are some of the details:

Who: Children’s Literature Hawaii
Date: Thursday & Friday, April 25-26, 2013
Time: 10 am to 5 pm
Location: University of Hawaii at Manoa, in front of Kuykendall Hall Auditorium (KUY 101).

The sale will help support the 17th Biennial Conference on Literature and Hawaii’s Children. The confirmed featured author/illustrator keynote speakers for the summer 2014 conference will be:
  • Kathi Appelt (Newbery Honor Book and National Book Award Finalist The Underneath) and
  • Grace Lin (Theodor Geisel Honor Book Ling and Ting and Newbery Honor Book Where the Mountain Meets the Moon).

Everything at the sale is priced between $0.25 to $5, including mint condition Bess Press books. Here are a few Bess Press titles they will be offering:

  • A Story of Surfing (with read-along CD) by Carla Golembe

(Although they are marketed as coloring books, the information presented is useful enough that virtually every HSPLS library has a copy our two in their Juvenile Hawaiian nonfiction collections.)
