The University of Hawaiʻi Press held some great sales the last few weeks such as their Year of the Snake sale (40% off China books), or the first and second Five Dollar Friday sales where they place a few select titles on sale for only $5 that day (here’s hoping for a third…and so on).

This week (March 12 – March 19), UH Press will continue this trend with a Plant & Gardening Sale where more than thirty plant and gardening books in their roster will sell at 40% off. There are some great “green” titles going on sale, so I recommend going through the list, especially if you collect books on Hawaiian plants.

Some of the books include a few Ka Palapala Poʻokela Award honorees such as A Native Hawaiian Garden: How to Grow and Care for Island Plants and Hawaiʻi’s Ferns and Fern Allies, Henry Allan Gleason Award winner Manual of the Flowering Plants of Hawaiʻi, and the 1995 Samuel Kamakau Award for Hawaiʻi Book of the Year: Plants in Hawaiian Culture.

And of course, my pick for the crown jewel of books on the list: The World of Bananas in Hawaiʻi: Then and Now. Originally $80, now you can get this 2012 KPP Award Winner for Excellence in Natural Science for $48. What can I say, I’m a banana head.
