New Look Internets

There’s been a lot of makeovers lately!  Just yesterday, UH Press launched their brand new, redesigned web site.  It’s much cleaner, easier to navigate, and much simpler to purchase books from.  Go check it out.  Not too long ago, Watermark Publishing launched their own blog, which provides a great way to keep up with their events and of course more importantly to everyone, their contests!  And I don’t think it was that long ago when the Friends of the Library of Hawaii completely revamped their website and online social presence.  It’s great seeing these local book publishers and literary organizations taking advantage of the web, and I look forward to future improvements and innovations in the book industry both locally and abroad.

Best of the Beach

I received word on Twitter (@HawaiiBookBlog) from author Janet Spurr (@janetspurr) that her book, Beach Chair Diaries, recently received Honorable Mention in the General Non-Fiction category of the 2011 Beach Book Festival.  Her book, which was re-published by Island Heritage in 2010, features collections of light and humorous essays focused on her love of the beach.  You can read an author interview we did with Janet Spurr back in April here: [Author Interview: Janet Spurr].
