We continue our highlight of the 2013 Ka Palapala Poʻokela Awards (happening this Friday, May 10) nominees with one of our favorite categories–Literature. Where applicable, we will link to book reviews from Hawaiʻi Book Blog. There hasn’t been much adult fiction (novels, short stories, or poems) released this last year and we hope local publishers will continue to consider more fiction possibilities in the future. Our literary community can only expand and improve with diverse perspectives and unique voices writing about the things we love, and the places and experiences we share.

For a complete list of all the nominees we’ve posted and for all the updated information on the event, please visit our dedicated Ka Palapala Poʻokela Awards page.

Last year’s winner was Three Years on Doreen’s Sofa by Lee Cataluna (Bamboo Ridge Press, 2011).
