October was our vacation month, as we have been quick to mention in multiple posts the past few weeks.  But November is something very different.  November is special.  November is going to be our Book Review Bonanza.

We’ve received a lot of books over the past few months and we fully admit we haven’t had the time to review them all.  Our focus this month will be to take these books, and other Hawaiʻi books of interest we find, and post as many book reviews as we can.  I can’t guarantee you’ll see 30 reviews in 30 days or anything overly ambitious like that, but we’ll focus our book blogging efforts on reading and writing as many reviews as we can in an effort to catch up with all the wonderful books that have come out.  If that means we do ten book reviews instead of the usual 2-4, then we’ll consider that a success.  Of course, we’d love to do more than that so root us on! And if you’d like to share a book review of your own, send us an email!

We thank those of you who read Hawaii Book Blog regularly, and hope you stick around this month as we’ll reward those of you who enjoy reading our book reviews.  We also invite any and all new readers to our site and hope you find our reviews helpful, informative, and fun.

I also want to take this opportunity to reintroduce our “Read Local” brand that we first showed everyone on our 3rd Birthday post.  Part of the reason we’re doing a Book Review Bonanza is to help readers in Hawaiʻi and abroad realize the talent and rich literary culture we have here in the islands and to help support our local authors, writers, and publishers.  As we say in our Mission Statement, we want to help “promote local literature to a mainstream audience and help others experience the culture of our islands through its books.”  We truly believe here at HBB that there is a veritable wealth of books written about Hawaiʻi and from Hawaiʻi, that needs to be supported by our local community.  And we hope that Hawaiʻi Book Blog has and will continue to provide you with a resource to help you… READ LOCAL!

Once again, mahalo for reading, and we hope you enjoy the content we’ll be providing you in the coming weeks.
