Best-selling author Clear Englebert (Feng Shui for Hawai’i, Feng Shui Demystified) will present free feng shui lectures at five public libraries during the last week of January. In addition, Englebert will offer a unique feng shui walking tour of downtown Honolulu and a three-hour class on Feng Shui for Interiors.

The library lectures begin by pointing out the differences between the two schools of feng shui. Englebert explains chi energy and shows how to attract and maximize its beneficial flow. He tells why some energy is considered negative and how to deflect it. Furniture selection and placement are also covered. Learn how to locate the powerful spots within a room and how to harmonize your home with the surrounding landform. The talk will also cover the use of feng shui in the tropical garden. Examples specific to the landscape, style and culture of Hawai’i are used and tips for hard times are emphasized.

The free library presentations will be offered at the following locations/times:

  • Kalihi-Palama Library – Monday, January 24 at 6:30pm
  • Kaimuki Library – Tuesday, January 25 at 6:30pm
  • Salt Lake Library – Wednesday, January 26 at 5:30pm
  • Waikiki Library – Thursday, January, 27 at 3:00pm
  • Hawaii Kai Library – Saturday, January, 29 at 11:00am

The three-hour Feng Shui for Interiors class will be held on Friday, January 28 in the Private Function Room in the Executive Center, Lobby Level, next to Hukilau Restaurant. Class begins at 6:00pm; class fee is $25. The session will cover the selection and placement of furniture and accessories, the power of color, deflecting harsh energy, sitting and sleeping in optimal locations, and houseplants. The bagua material will explain the two important back corners, the Wealth and Relationship Corners, as well as the other areas of the bagua. Validated parking is available and no pre-registration is required; walk-ins are welcome.

Englebert’s Feng Shui Walking Tour will offered  at 3:00pm on Saturday, January 29. The cost is $5 and it will start on the Beretania Street steps of the Capitol Building. The tour will go past the Main Library and Iolani Palace before heading into the tall buildings downtown. Buildings will be evaluated on their feeling of balance, support and solidity. They will be categorized based on the five elements, and water features and neighboring building influences will be noted.
